An Attitude of Gratitude

I can remember a little tradition in our family when I was a child many years ago. Occasionally, for the meal blessing, my mother would have us sing a little song. It was always a special thing to sing our blessing. Though simple and humble, we had much to be thankful for. It is good to look around us and realize that it is not what or how much we have but it is our attitude about what we have. Jesus turned 5 little barley loaves and 2 little fishes into food for thousands of listeners out on the hillside. It didn't say he made butter for their bread or desert for after their meal. They were grateful, thankful, blessed. You can read that story in Matthew 14.
Here are the words to that little blessing song I was talking about.
1 Father, we thank Thee for the night,
And for the pleasant morning light;
For rest and food and loving care,
And all that makes the world so fair.
2 Help us to do the things we should,
To be to others kind and good;
In all we do, in work or play,
To love Thee better day by day.
if we find ourselves grateful for much, perhaps we can share our bounties with others to be a blessing to them. For this Thankful Season, we ask God's abundant blessing on you.
